In this new and improved two-day workshop designed to meet the needs of the next generation of volunteer managers, participants will learn techniques for recruiting, training, placing, retaining and rewarding volunteers as well as ways to increase the teamwork with staff. Participants will work on group exercises and use case studies to better understand the concepts presented in the workshop.

Upon successful completion of the two sessions, volunteers will be awarded a Certificate in Volunteer Management.

Andrea Hendry is the managing partner for Smart Chicks Consulting, Inc. where she assists nonprofit agencies in streamlining their processes and acts as a community relations specialist to help corporation’s employees connect with their communities through volunteer ism. She specializes in "volun-tourism” and excels at engaging corporate volunteers and donors. She is also the Cities of Service Coordinator for the City of Orlando, coordinating the city’s volunteer activities. In 2009, she was president of the Council of Volunteer Managers of Central Florida. Previously, she has worked in volunteer management with several nonprofit agencies throughout the community, including Give Kids the World Village and Heart of Florida United Way.

Emily Furlong is the senior program manager at the Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership Center. Her nonprofit teaching experience includes fundraising, planning and development, volunteer management, and board governance. She has been a founding member of two nonprofits, Seminole Heart and Habitat for Humanity of Seminole and served as executive director of Seminole Heart. Previously, she served as the volunteer manager at Meals on Wheels and Harbor House.
