You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can’t get them across, your ideas won’t get you anywhere – Lee Iacocca, former CEO, Chrysler Corporation
What you will gain:
- Follow an adaptable template for making presentations
- Identify ‘closed’ and ‘open’ body language
- Identify and use the ‘4 Communication Languages’ to keep an audience engaged
- Enhanced ability to speak extemporaneously
- Ability to identify and adapt messages to the needs of different audiences
- Techniques for determining the needs of your audience
- Handling negative or aggressive people and situations
Clearly and confidently talking about your expertise, your nonprofit organization and key issues determines your ability to attract more donors and volunteers, shape opinion and add money to your mission. Everything you do delivers a message. Would you know if you’re sending the wrong one?
Fifty-five percent of your communication happens before you open your mouth, 38% is your tone of voice and the pace at which you speak. Only 7% is what you actually say. The ability to communicate powerfully in all three areas directly impacts the success of your nonprofit mission and personal interactions.
Annetta Wilson’s focus is media training, presentation skills and communication skills training from the perspective of the media professional and interviewer (often the toughest crowd you will ever encounter). You will develop the ability to get to the point concisely and with clarity.
The objective of this workshop is to guide you through the process of appearing more confident, comfortable, and in control in front of an audience. We place strong emphasis on honing your ability to stay ‘on message’.
Participants are strongly encouraged to bring actual scenarios for analysis.
